Stageset Design for a Musical!

and the plate spins

and the plate spins is a musical drama performed by staff and students of Temasek Polytechnic.

Temasek is ten in the year 2000. This musical production bears the "made in Temasek Polytechnic" stamp. The entire production is created in-hourse - from scripting and chereographing to costume and stage set designing all in a very tight schedule. It showcases our very own talents.

The cast and crew also comprise staff and students as well as graduates of Temasek Polytechnic. The performance is charged with enormous extra voltage and none of the audience has ever forgotten the gala night on 31 March 2000.

I am tasked to do the stage set designing. Working on the drawings, models and paper work for the set is like my brain going through a terrific workout. The process also provides excellent opportunity for me to re-establish old contact with two top graduates of Diploma in Interior Architecture and Design. Talking and sharing with them about the design is most rewarding and enriching. Sharing the anxiety and frustration with the production crew is another delighful experience.

The two talented graduates are Wong Kok Loong and Chua Ee Ling, both graduates of 97/98. Kok Loong is now pursuing his degree in Architecture at University of East London and Eeling is at the other side of the globe pursuing Master in Architecture at UCLA, USA.
